Interventional radiology (IR) provides minimally invasive image-guided diagnosis and treatment of disease. Although the range of procedures performed by interventional radiologists is broad, the unifying concept behind these procedures is the application of image guidance and minimally invasive techniques in order to minimize risk to the patient.

Diagnostic imaging provides essential information in the care of patients. Diagnostic imaging physicians complete 1-year clinical internships prior to their 4-year diagnostic radiology residencies.
This clinical training and experience provide the radiologist with a valuable perspective as a consultant, helping referring physicians integrate advanced imaging into the diagnosis and treatment of their patients.

Radiology Consultants Inc. Radiologists reside in Fairbanks, AK but we report on images sent from hospitals as well as outlying villages.
We work with Foundation Health Partners' Fairbanks Memorial Hospital; Tanana Valley Clinic; the Fairbanks Imaging and Breast Center of Excellence, Chief Andrew Isaac's Tanana Chiefs Conference, Alaska Native Medical Center, Fairbanks Ultrasound, and South Pennisula Hosptial.
Campaign to Bring PET CT to Interior Alaska
As long time Alaskans the members of RCI recognize the importance of making PET available for all Alaskans. To avoid the expense and inconvenience of traveling we are actively working with community leaders to bring this essential service to the Interior.

WHAT
IS A
RADIOLOGIST
A radiologist is a medical doctor who is trained to interpret medical images for the purpose of diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries.
All radiologists “read” studies that are considered General or Diagnostic. Many specialize in a specific type of radiology, also known as a Subspecialty.
These subspecialties lead to radiologists taking on additional roles like that of an Interventional Radiologist who performs minimally invasive procedures, or a Radiologist trained in Nuclear Medicine and Oncology who is a cancer expert.
